San Antonio, Texas — Topaz Sales Consultant Brad Stanton attended the recent ACG Austin/San Antonio luncheon at the San Antonio Country Club, where guest speaker Brad Beldon shared his firsthand experience navigating mergers and acquisitions as both a seller and a buyer.
Beldon spoke candidly about the sale of BELDON Roofing Company, a family business built over nearly eight decades. The decision involved far more than selecting the highest offer. His family was choosing who they could trust with their employees, customers, reputation, and 79-year legacy.

That message strongly resonated with Stanton.
“In any significant business decision, the financial terms matter, but they are only part of the conversation,” Stanton said. “The people involved, their values, and what happens after the agreement is signed are equally important. Brad’s story was a powerful reminder that the right transaction has to represent a mutual fit. The humility, passion, yet altruistic approach that Brad brings is second to none. He has just as much passion for helping others as he does for business.”
Beldon explained that BELDON Roofing Company selected Progressive Roofing and Bow River Capital as its buyers. Through subsequent transactions involving TopBuild and QXO, the organization grew from approximately 200 employees to becoming part of a publicly traded company with 28,000 team members in just 442 days.
For Stanton, the presentation offered valuable insight into the personal and operational realities behind an M&A transaction.
As a Topaz Sales Consultant, Stanton works with business owners and sales leaders who regularly face complex decisions involving growth, leadership, people, and the business value and sales risks behind the numbers. Beldon’s experience reinforced an important principle Stanton brings into his sales consulting work: strong decisions are rarely made through numbers alone. They are made by asking thoughtful questions, understanding what each party values, and determining whether there is genuine alignment.
The luncheon also provided Stanton with another opportunity to connect with members of San Antonio’s business and M&A community.
“ACG consistently brings together experienced leaders who are willing to share the real story behind major business decisions,” Stanton said. “I’m grateful for the quality of the speakers, the conversations, and the relationships these events create.”
Topaz Sales Consulting appreciates ACG Austin/San Antonio for continuing to provide thoughtful programs that help business leaders learn from one another and make more informed decisions.
