About Scott

Scott is an accomplished sales consultant with nearly two decades of experience building, leading, and transforming sales organizations.

Born in New Mexico, raised in Utah, an Austinite for 15 years, and now Arizona, Scott considers himself a true Southwesterner at heart. He graduated from Brigham Young University (BYU) with a BA in Media Arts (RTF).

Sales Background

Scott spent 18 years in the electronic security industry, where he founded and scaled Bigstar Security from the ground up, growing it into a successful enterprise serving major accounts and ultimately completing a successful exit in 2021. Having completed a successful exit from his company, Scott brings credibility not just as a consultant, but as someone who has built and realized enterprise value through disciplined sales leadership.

Favorite Aspects of Sales

Scott’s favorite part of his work is watching teams shift from chasing revenue to leading conversations. He believes sales professionals are at their best when they are not controlling others, but in control of their own process. He partnered with Topaz because their sales philosophy aligns deeply with how he has learned to sell, often the hard way. Early in his career, he chased deals, over-explained, and pushed momentum. Over time, he realized the true leverage in sales comes from truth, not pressure. That shift changed everything. At Topaz, he found a methodology that formalizes that discipline and gives it structure.

Interests and Favorites

Outside of work, Scott is a creative at heart. He enjoys writing songs, studying languages, and traveling. He and his son share a love of culture and communication. Together they speak four languages, English, French, Spanish, and Basque. Scott is currently learning to speak Basque fluently, deepening that shared journey.
